Please take a look at my other watches currently available. 1952 HAMILTON'RYAN' GENTLEMAN'S VINTAGE WATCH. Hamilton watches are generally acknowledged to be among the finest timepieces to be made in the United States during the heyday of the American watchmaking industry.

This HAMILTON'RYAN' gentleman's vintage wristwatch is 71 years old, being made in 1952, and is in lovely vintage condition throughout. It comes FRESHLY SERVICED AND OVERHAULED and runs well, keeping good time.

This is a relatively small watch by modern standards and might also be worn by a woman - see measurements below. Good vintage condition throughout with some light natural patina and signs of age. 17-jewel Hamilton 752 mechanical movement SERVICED, CLEANED AND FRESHLY OILED in January 2023. Supplied in a plain recyclable presentation/gift box with operating instructions and tips on caring for the watch. Please be aware that vintage mechanical watches are not as accurate as modern quartz watches (see note below about vintage watch timekeeping).

This watch is also NOT waterproof. SIZE 25mm (1 inch) square excluding crown x 38mm total length. If you are new to vintage watches please be aware that gentlemen's watches of this era were generally made smaller than watches of today and may also suit a lady's wrist. If you have been used to wearing a large, modern watch, this could be considered relatively small in comparison.

Please study the following detailed measurements and compare them on a ruler so that you understand the size of this watch before purchasing. Width: 25mm, excluding the crown. Length: 25mm without the lugs; 38mm total length to tips of the lugs. Strap: 16mm wide, narrowing to 14mm at the buckle. Wrist fitting: The leather strap should fit a wrist size of between 160mm and 190mm. The above dimensions are approximate. 10k yellow gold-filled two-part case. The square two-part 10k gold-filled case presents in good vintage condition, showing the usual light surface scratches and signs of use one would expect on any used watch over 70 years old, plus a little wear to the case-back corners seen on close scrutiny. The outside-back is signed HAMILTON 10K GOLD FILLED L&K (the case maker).

The inside-back is signed RYAN (the model name) HAMILTON WATCH CO. The glass crystal is clean and clear with no noticeable marks except for a tiny chip in the top left corner at 11 seen under magnification. This is barely noticeable and only mentioned here for the sake of complete accuracy. In my opinion it does not warrant replacing the crystal.

The case has just been ultrasonically cleaned to remove any ingrained dirt from all the crevices accumulated over many decades and to sanitise for the watch's new owner. The brand new chestnut brown 16mm wide leather strap completes the watch perfectly. DIAL Original two-tone Silver with solid 18k gold markers on sterling silver base. As with many Vintage Hamilton dials, this lovely two-tone example is made from sterling silver and furnished with applied SOLID 18K GOLD MARKERS, which is testament to the high quality of the watch.

The dial background shows a little natural patina and light ageing, but no stand-out marks that offend the naked eye. Please study the close-up photos. High-end Hamilton 17-jewel calibre 752 mechanical hand-wound movement SERVICED, CLEANED AND OILED in January 2023. Running well and keeping good time (please see note below about vintage watch timekeeping). This watch is powered by a high-quality American-made HAMILTON 17-jewel 752 hand-wound mechanical movement.

The surface of the movement bears ornate damaskeening, or'Geneva stripes'. This sort of aesthetic treatment tended to be used on higher-quality movements.

The serial number 31993E corresponds to a manufacture date for this watch of 1952. For your further reassurance and added value, this watch has been. FULLY SERVICED, CLEANED AND OILED IN JANUARY 2023. This involved completely dismantling the movement (see photo), ultrasonically cleaning and inspecting all components for any broken parts or excessive wear, re-building, lubricating with the finest Moebius Swiss watch oils and grease, demagnetising and regulating timekeeping.

The stainless steel alloy mainspring was examined and seen to be strong and in excellent condition, so this has been cleaned, greased and refitted. Setting friction and beat have also been adjusted. The watch winds and sets smoothly with all functions working correctly, and is keeping very good time (see note below about vintage watch timekeeping).

As this work has just been carried out, please factor this in the value of this watch when purchasing. Please note that this watch will require winding fully once every 24 hours if you intend wearing it and occasional winding (every week or two) is recommended when not being worn.

A general note on vintage watch timekeeping and reliability. Please do not expect quartz accuracy from any vintage mechanical watch.

The accepted timekeeping tolerances for a brand new watch back in the 1940s and 50s was +/- 3 minutes a day and, unless otherwise stated, my watches should still keep time to within these parameters. Timekeeping accuracy can vary according to the angle a watch is being worn on the wrist - for instance, when it is dial-up or on its side. Also, a fully-wound mainspring delivers more power than when it has almost wound down, so timekeeping will likely be different on a full wind compared with, say, 24 hours later. If you wish to check timekeeping, it is recommended to fully wind your watch first thing in the morning, having made a note of the exact time.

Wear it all day and then place dial-up on on a bedside table or desk overnight. Do not top up the wind in the meantime. Compare its time next morning and this should provide a good indication of its average timekeeping over 24 hours, taking into account the various positions it experiences overall, together with slight decreasing of power of the mainspring as it winds down. PLEASE NOTE: Servicing, comprising of stripping, cleaning and freshly oiling a vintage watch provides it with the best chance of optimum performance, given its age, but does not mean that the movement is then in'as-new' condition. These watches are many decades old and although w hilst disassembled during servicing, each component is carefully checked to ensure nothing is broken or damaged, there could still be some slight wear or other age-related idiosyncrasies which might affect accuracy and reliability. Even if serviced, the age and complex nature of any vintage mechanical watch means that ongoing maintenance between servicing might be required by a local watchmaker - it's much like owning a vintage car. After this period, I recommend you source a local watchmaker/repairer who can keep your vintage watch running for years to come. I always strive to provide 5-star customer service (see my feedback), so please be assured that if there is any issue I will do my best to rectify matters promptly and to your satisfaction.

Any issues or problem with the watch should be NOTIFIED WITHIN 14 DAYS OF RECEIPT. Many hours of work goes in to overhauling and restoring these beautiful old timepieces and I try very hard to get things right. Please contact me immediately on receipt if you are in any way unhappy and I will do my best to help.

14 days should be ample time to assess that the watch is AS DESCRIBED and keeping reasonable time commensurate with its age. Although very securely packaged, on rare occasions turbulent conditions in transit have been known to affect fine adjustment, causing timekeeping issues. This is why I always ask buyers to confirm that they are happy with everything once received. Please do not leave negative or neutral feedback without giving me the opportunity to put things right. Just contact me as soon as possible, but WITHIN 14 DAYS of receipt, please.

Please note that photographs also form part of the description. Alternatively, I will provide the option of repair at my expense if the watch has been damaged in transit and I consider it to be repairable within a reasonable timeframe. These watches are many decades old and, even if they have been serviced, can still develop faults at any time - just like anything else old and mechanical.

As a vintage watch owner, I always recommend sourcing a local watchmaker that can provide you with ongoing service and repairs as and when required. However, I will always be willing to provide advice if there is ever a problem, so feel free to contact me if you need to. IN ORDER TO AVOID ANY MISUNDERSTANDINGS, BEFORE PURCHASING PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE WHOLE DETAILED DESCRIPTION, TAKING PARTICULAR NOTE OF DIMENSIONS, ETC.

AND STUDY ALL CLOSE-UP PHOTOGRAPHS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST AND IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS I WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO HELP.
